We all want our children to get walking as soon as possible, it’s clearly a big step in their early development.
But be careful what you wish for! My son was up and about by his first birthday – and he hasn’t stopped moving since.
Pull Along Toys
My son’s grandparents very kindly bought him a pull along toy for his first birthday. You know the type, a dog shaped wooden toy that wags its tail as it is drawn along the ground making an entertaining clacking noise as it goes.
It was with great delight that our toddler enjoyed pulling this toy around and around the house, from living room, to kitchen, back to the living room. Repeat until too tired to carry on.
He always seemed equally fond of watching me pull it around as pulling it around himself, so be prepared to get some excersice too!
Charming Wooden Gifts
The other appeal of these toys are that they really are a classic wooden toy. Of course plastic ones are around too, but if you are buying a birthday gift then you’ll want to find something a little bit special.
I always think well crafted wooden gifts are a little bit special and will quickly become a treasured childhood memory.
