The great thing about watching my son grow up is observing the development of new skills. As he approaches his first birthday he is now able to stack cups and push shapes through holes.

Mega Bloks
These large chunky building blocks are specifically designed for young builders. With a range of shapes coming in bright colours they are perfect for constructing everything from houses to monsters!
These blocks are very similar to Lego or Duplo, but I found you could get a little more for your money, and there is an innovative range to chose from.
I suggest having a look at the following:
- The large tubs of assorted blocks are a great starting point. Cheaper than the branded sets and you get a load of building bricks.
- The Mega Bloks monster bag is great for little boys who want to build scary monsters! These bricks come with mouth, eye, etc pieces.
- If you want to get something aimed for girls then there are a range of pink themed sets
I recommend that you check the manufacturer’s suggested age range before purchase as some of the sets are unsuitable for a one year old.
